Here’s what she’s (probably) eating.

It’s protocol that British royals don’t usually have baby showers, but Meghan Markle is breaking that tradition this week. Good Morning America reported that Markle, who is due this spring, is in New York City on a “personal trip to see friends before she has her baby.”

Royal news contributor Omid Scobie tweeted that “today’s baby shower is the first of two...20 of Meghan’s loved ones—including Misha Nonoo, Jessica Mulroney and Abigail Spencer—will join her in New York City later this afternoon, with a smaller gathering scheduled for pals on this side of the pond.” Serena Williams reportedly helped organize the event, and will take on hosting duties. And from the sound of it, she’s letting no detail go unnoticed (the shindig reportedly cost $200,000!)

Royal reporter Carolyn Durand tweeted that guests “will feast on Jean-Georges cuisine and learn how to flower arrange before [Markle] flies back to the UK this evening.”

Markle is reported to be staying at the Mark hotel, where Jean-Georges has a restaurant. According to their website, the restaurant features “fresh-from-the-market, simple cooking” and a “world class menu of subtly innovative European classics as well as Jean-Georges' signature global seasonings will be sure to satisfy cravings for both simple and eclectic palates alike.”

This restaurant choice seems right up Markle’s alley—she’s been known to follow a vegan diet most of the time, and typically eats healthy meals with plenty of fresh fruits and veggies. Although it’s been reported the party will be held in this $75,000-a-night penthouse suite.

More on Meghan Markle's diet from Cooking Light:

We scoped out the menu, and tried to guess what the Duchess of Sussex would eat (though, if we’re being real, a special menu will probably be created just for her.) Jean-Georges features recipes by season, and some winter menu items that would be delicious include Brussels Sprouts With Apples and Herbs, Swiss Chard Braised in Shiitake Butter, Baeckeoffe (a potato, lamb, and root vegetable dish), Almond-Caramelized Duck Breast With Amaretto Jus, and Chocolate Cake for dessert. (Though Markle is mostly a vegan, she eats meat on special occasions.)

All of that sounds incredibly delicious...we’re just bummed our invite got lost in the mail.

All About Meghan Markle's Second Pregnancy

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's baby girl was born on June 4. From the baby's name to all about the lead-up to the birth, here's what we know so far.

From the bombshells that dropped on Oprah With Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special to the follow-up responses from the royal family, there&aposs no end in sight to royal news right now. But one of the most heartwarming headlines is undoubtedly the fact that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have welcomed their second baby. Here are the details we know so far.

Meghan Markle’s Baby Shower Featured an Insane Amount of Desserts

Meghan Markle’s baby shower in New York last week prompted speculation that she was having a girl. Or wait, no … a boy.

The important thing is that the expectant mother has clearly been having dessert.

The shower was reportedly held on Wednesday, February 20, in the vast and luxurious penthouse of the Mark hotel on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, rented, for the occasion, by Markle’s pal Serena Williams, for around $75,000, according to Tatler. (Another shower will be held in the U.K. at a later date.)

The NYC shower was attended by Markle pals including Amal Clooney, stylist Jessica Mulroney, fashion designer Misha Nonoo, hairstylist Serge Mormant, publicist Celine Khavarani, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment Group chairman Bonnie Hammer (who was responsible for casting Markle on Suits), and actresses Abigail Spencer and Janina Gavankar. Close friends Markus Anderson, Lindsay Jordan, and college pals Genevieve Hillis (a co-host of the fete, according to and Lindsay Roth were also believed to be among the guests, as were Priyanka Chopra and Benita Litt.

Activities included a flower-arranging lesson (with the flowers donated afterward to Repeat Roses, an organization that delivers them to hospices, disease treatment centers and shelters) followed by what Vanity Fair termed a “dessert-tasting experience” held under the supervision of chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, who has a restaurant at the hotel.

Judging from photos and videos posted on Instagram, the dessert table featured pops shaped like storks carrying bundles, cookies shaped like bibs and bunny rabbits and baby rattles (and more storks), slices of carrot cake, a host of other cakes, and towers of macarons and treats galore.

Yum. Hope the Duchess of Sussex saved some for Prince Harry (who recently joked about whether the baby was his, the kidder). She saved the gifts to take back to London to open with him, Gayle King, apparently also in attendance, said on CBS This Morning.

Awww. That detail may be sweeter than all those adorable desserts put together.

Meghan Markle Is Having a Second Baby Shower & We Have Some Guest List Suggestions

The news cycle is still covering Meghan, Duchess of Sussex’s star-studded New York City baby shower back in February, and now there’s news she might be gearing up for a second celebration in the U.K.

According to Us Weekly, the second baby shower will be held in the U.K. sometime during the first week of April, the month it’s believed Meghan is due with her first child with husband Prince Harry. Speaking with the outlet, a source reportedly close to the British royal family confirmed the plans for a second shower : “A second shower is happening in the UK with Doria [Ragland, Meghan’s mother]. It&rsquos not happening until the first week of April. Duchess Kate will be there, as well as a lot of Meghan’s UK friends and family.”

The source goes on to claim that “there is still going to be some sort of private baby-centric event for Meghan’s UK people, and [Meghan’s sister-in-law] Kate will host. Her glam people and other relatives will be there. Not sure if it&rsquos a total baby ‘shower,’ but you could probably call it that.”

The thought of a second baby shower hosted by Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and involving Doria Ragland is exciting. But we’re already crossing our fingers that Meghan’s most famous in-law, Queen Elizabeth II, will make an appearance with no less than two corgis in tow (it’d be rude not to show up, right?). And we’d obviously love to see dear friends like Jessica Mulroney, Amal Clooney and Victoria Beckham show up.

Other guests we hope to see there? Definitely Priyanka Chopra, who recently defended her friendship with Meghan and we know would be at the shower in a heartbeat if invited. Oh, and maybe there’s room to add some other A-listers, like Oprah Winfrey, who would undoubtedly give Meghan a killer baby shower gift.

Basically, we are all in on a second celebration for Baby Sussex, despite what certain haters who’ve shaded Meghan’s baby shower recently (cough, Dickie Arbiter, cough) may say. Go have fun, Meghan, and don’t get roped into playing any weird baby shower games, like that one where you eat food out of a diaper.

Meghan and Harry Are Having a Baby Girl, and Their Due Date Is Sometime This Summer

The Sussexes will welcome their daughter in just a few months—and while we don’t know an exact due date, the couple told Oprah they were due in the “summertime.” Meanwhile, a source told Us Weekly that their due date is around late spring, saying, “Harry and Meghan have always wanted a couple of kids—a little brother or sister for Archie, and they’re excitedly planning for the arrival of their bundle of joy. It’s a dream come true.…Meghan fell pregnant again toward the end of last year. The baby is due at the end of spring.”

Kay, but what if we *had* to guess a date? According to science, by which I mean Google, the end of spring/beginning of summer is technically June 20—which is pretty close to Archie’s birthday on May 6. So…let’s go with somewhere in that range!

What to expect from Meghan Markle’s baby shower and gender reveal party

You&rsquod think we knew her personally considering how excited we are at the announcement that Meghan Markle is expecting her first child with Prince Harry.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will welcome their baby next Spring and while it&rsquos still early days for Meghan, there&rsquos a a new pressure on the former Suits actress with royal protocol to bare in mind for the mum-to-be.

As with everything the royals do, every precaution is taken to ensure Mum and baby are in the best care but whether or not Meghan chooses to stick to the rules is another thing.

At the very least, we know she&rsquos turning a blind eye to the travelling restrictions as she and Harry have just embarked on a 16-day tour of Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand &ndash that&rsquos a lot of air miles!

Of course with pregnancy comes a lot of excitement, from gender reveal parties to baby showers but according to royal experts, protocol says both are a big no-no.

Royal commentator Victoria Aribter told the Sun that a lavish baby shower would be &lsquohighly inappropriate&rsquo considering Megan and Harry&rsquos wealth.

A gender reveal party is out of the question too as the baby&rsquos sex is expected to remain a secret until the baby is born.

And if anyone is going to hear about it first &ndash it&rsquos going to be the Queen herself.

In fact, rumour has it Queen Elizabeth has first dibs on all the baby news &ndash ahead of the rest of the family, including Meghan&rsquos Mum Doria and Harry&rsquos father Charles.

One thing we can be certain of is Meghan&rsquos immaculate wardrobe.

While we&rsquod love to see her comfy in a pair of flats and sweatpants, we can&rsquot imagine her straying too far off her camera-ready image as her bump grows &ndash imagine the pressure!

At a tricky crossroads: Meghan in New York with Suits actress Abigail Spencer

The Duchess of Sussex was in New York this week, catching up with friends, having lunch and doing a little light shopping. It was a private visit so there was no additional cost to the British taxpayer.

She is already back at work, flying the flag for Britain on a high-profile official visit to Morocco, where she and the Duke will promote diplomatic relations, boost UK interests and support humanitarian causes.

Just another week in the everyday story of royal folk? Hardly. As Princess Diana’s private secretary, I learned to recognise that the line between official and private travel is never just about the money. It’s a code that opens a Pandora’s box of unintended consequences.

Rich people’s jets — in this case a Gulfstream reportedly paid for by George and Amal Clooney — always come with a bill attached, even if it’s not the kind you can pay with a Duchy of Cornwall credit card.

Favours must be returned, obligations quickly multiply and pretty soon royal free-riders are handing over their most precious assets: credibility and dignity, if not, please God, their lives.

The uproar created in some quarters by Meghan’s brief, but undeniably extravagant, Big Apple excursion could hardly have been greater if she had run naked down Broadway and burned a Union Jack in Times Square.

But let’s keep a sense of proportion here. A high-profile former actress, she happens to have rich celebrity friends and, if they behave as rich celebrities usually do, then good luck to her, surely.

Anyway, other members of the Royal Family, notably Prince Charles and Camilla, have often been known graciously to accept favours from the mega-rich, especially if there’s a jet, a yacht or a private island on offer. Just don’t tactlessly mention the environmental damage.

This whole subject is a high-hypocrisy zone, so instead, relax, enjoy the exotic pictures and remember the words of Jimmy Stewart’s character, the cynical hack Macaulay Connor in The Philadelphia Story: ‘The prettiest sight in this fine pretty world is the privileged class enjoying its privileges.’

Royal dramas of this kind tend to fizzle out pretty quickly, fit only for tomorrow’s recycling bin.

There will surely be some courtiers this morning (not least in Casablanca with the Duke and Duchess) who are trying this explanation on for size. Perhaps it will all blow over, they hope, and the British public’s love for its excitingly-disruptive American newcomer will resume undiminished.

After all, it seems only yesterday that Her Royal Highness was winning hearts with her ‘bananagrams’ for sex workers in Bristol, recipe-sharing with women in the Grenfell community kitchen, and speech-making on women’s education and women’s suffrage on a hugely successful tour Down Under in October.

Partying like a Duchess ain&apost cheap, but Markle gets by (in style) with a little help from her friends. Meghan&aposs tennis champion bestie Williams reportedly footed the bill for her $75,000 a night stay at The Mark, while one of her Toronto-based pals is reported to have loaned out her private jet (and covered the $100,000 it cost to charter it) as a gift.

This is a last hurrah of sorts for Meghan, as she’s expected to be back in London on Wednesday and jet out on her royal tour of Morocco with Prince Harry this weekend.

Though baby showers aren’t customary in England, Markle is expected to enjoy a second shower once she’s returned from Morocco.
